policy research and legal change
we have been instrumental in conceptualizing and executing, along with disability rights organizations, the nationwide right to read campaign (www.righttoread.in) to accelerate amendments to Indian copyright law to permit the conversion and distribution of books in accessible formats so as to extend to the visually impaired the Indian constitutional guarantees of equality, non-discrimination, dignity and freedom. inclusive planet is also advising India's negotiators at the world intellectual property organisation on the various aspects of the treaty proposed by the world blind union for improved access for blind, visually impaired and other reading disabled persons.
Inclusive Planet has worked on, and submitted to the Human Resource Development Ministry in India a research paper on the Indian Constitutional and international compulsions on amending Indian Copyright law to provide exceptions and limitations for the benefit of persons with disabilities.
